Travel to Bordeaux

Bordeaux, located in southwestern France, is well connected by air, rail, and road, making it an easily accessible destination for both domestic and international travelers. Here’s how you can get to Bordeaux:

By Air
Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport (BOD) is the main international gateway, offering flights from major European cities and beyond. The airport is located about 12 km from the city center and is accessible by:

  • Airport Shuttle: The "30'Direct" express shuttle connects the airport to Bordeaux Saint-Jean train station in about 30 minutes.
  • Public Transport: Tram Line A (via bus 1+) links the airport to the city center.
  • Taxis & Ride-Sharing: Available at the airport, with a journey time of around 25 minutes to central Bordeaux. Approx 50 euros. 

By Train
Bordeaux Saint-Jean is the city’s main railway station, offering high-speed TGV services from Paris: Around 2 hours via TGV.

Getting around

Bordeaux has an efficient and modern tram system operated by TBM (Transports Bordeaux Métropole), making it one of the best ways to explore the city. The network consists of four tram lines (A, B, C, and D), covering key areas, including the historic center, the train station (Gare Saint-Jean), major universities, and cultural landmarks like Place des Quinconces and Cité du Vin. Trams run from around 5:00 AM to midnight, with frequent services throughout the day. Tickets can be purchased at tram stations, via the TBM app, or with contactless payment directly on board.
